About Jardin al Andalus

Jardin al Andalus offers more than a retreat into nature. Designed as an homage to the Moorish heritage of Andalusia, its walls echo centuries of culture, the Alhambra with a contemporary twist, Morroccan riyads, patios and pools of southern Spain.

The owners’ personal unique collection of religious art pays respect to all religions and the art they inspired. From Islamic ceramics to Renaissance paintings via Russian iconography, there is a passion here for art. “The various crucifixes, Buddhas and temples dotted around the hillside, the collection examines our love of icons and their place in our universe.”

The use of corten steel has been crafted by local blacksmiths and metalworkers. Come across the striking pieces of sculpture commissioned by the owners or spotted in a flea market or Manhattan gallery; each piece has been carefully chosen to sit in a certain place and define itself on the hillside. “The juxtaposition of sculpture and nature is incredibly stimulating. We love our eccentric and unique collection of modern pieces”.

The Gardens were inspired by the resting places in Persia that allowed travelling armies to refresh under palm trees. Water, dates and shade in which to sleep evolved into the first gardens, established for pleasure as well as comfort.
